“You stole 2 packets of Maggi?” Thats something which knocks the subscious mind when I go to buy Maggi from the store nearby.Long back,as kids, when we were studying in the XIII th standard I guess, a fete was being organized in the school. And we – the boys of the class were asked to handle the fete “canteen”.And all of us in charge of the canteen, who were badly caught and threatended with dire consequences the next day, escaped(“stole”!!) with Maggi packets which remained after the fete was over. We had learnt our “Maggi” lesson quite early on in our lives – The far from ideal, but still the Happiest Days of our Life.

Coming back in time now, it has become very difficult to keep pace with the menus and the blog posts.Whereas experimentation has been low due to the festive season, getting time on the web has been low too.Office hours are spent on office work and “post”office hours have been spent on parties and celebration. The last few days of the past year has been very fun and joyous indeed and the posts coming up are some of the menus which I managed during that time. Some of them donot contain photos because they were prepared during picnics.More on that coming soon. But here is how I modified the maggi(an immensely tasty item) from an evening snacks items into something more spectacular dinner stuff.
I used a couple of Maggi packets for the two of us.Depending on the servings, the amount of the ingredients needs to be altered.

Servings:2

Preparation Time:10 mins
Cooking Time: 15 mins.

Ingredients:

  • 2 packets of Maggi
  • Use 100 gms of onions and cut into small pieces.
  • A 1/4th inch of ginger which is finely chopped.Another 1/4th inch ginger for egg bhujji.
  • A couple of green chillies.Cut into very small pieces.
  • 2 Eggs.Beaten then made into a fine bhujji.
  • Powdered Spices: Turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, red chilli powder, black pepper powder – 1/4th tsp each.
  • The Maggi Masala Powder – couple of packets of this.
  • Tomato Ketchup – 2 tbsp.
  • Vegetable Oil for frying: 3 tbsp. And 1 tbsp for the egg bhurji.

How do we cook?

  • Boil the Maggi in some amount of water and drain the water once the maggi is done.Keep aside.
  • Heat 1 tbsp of vegetable oil in a pan.Add the crushed ginger into it.Stir and then add the couple of beaten eggs and a pinch of turmeric powder.Fry till the egg is finely shredded.Keep aside on a tissue.
  • In the same pan, add 3 tbsp of vegetable oil. When the oil gets nice and hot, add the crushed ginger and cut green chillies.Stir till the intense smell of the green chillies evolve. Then add the onion slices.Stir till the slices turn brown in colour. In it add the boiled maggi.Add all the powdered spices to the maggi and stir for 3-4 mins under medium heat.At the end add the tomato ketchup and egg bhurji.

Enjoy your dinner.
