“I want to bake a chocolate cake”,she declared on fine day, just a few days preceding Christmas.
“Again a chocolate cake?” – I was pretty much disturbed.
A few days back, I, who usually do not like to dabble in “non”Indian cooking, ventured into Chocolate cake preparation.Needless to say, it ended in a disaster. The cake became as hard as biscuits after I had put it in the microwave for 20 mins. So, it emerged that the wife wanted to correct me. I told her that we had all the ingredients fresh in our home and ready. It was only when she wanted to prepare it.So here it is, the first of The Wife’s recipe. The cake came out fine and it required only 3.5 mins in the microwave instead of those 20 mins of mine.
Ingredients:
- 3/4th cup all purpose flour
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 3 tbsp of butter
- 1/4th cup powdered sugar
- 1egg.
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 1/2 tsp of baking powder.
- A pinch of salt
Procedure:
- Mix all the above ingredients in a mixing bowl.Incase finer mixing is required use a blender – we used one.
- Pour the contents into a foil box (or a microwave oven friendly container depending on the shape desired).Since this was supposed to be a home made cake, so, we used a plain aluminium foil box – Looks weren’t important, but taste was definitely.
- Cover and cook in a microwave for 3 mins and watch how the cake “rises up” through the foil box. Let it cool down for 4-5 mins.Dip and fork inside the cake to check whether the cake is done.
- Once done, slice it and serve.
I love home made cakes, they are just too delicious.
